Slanted paper bin with integrated handle
Inspired by a cylindrical slanted paper bin by Italian designer Enzo Mari, I started a series of slanted paper bins, adding an inviting conic shape and an integrated handle to enhance functionality. The first few small batches I made of polyester composite, which is great for its strength and lightweight properties. Also, you can give it any shape and every colour you can imagine.
On the poor side, producing in composite demand extensive personal protection from fumes and bits of glasfiber. Polyester resin is based on petroleum, which is not renewable. Plus, composite waste is difficult to recycle and to be re-used. Overall, it is not a friendly or sustainable material, so I stopped using it. Now I’m searching for an alternative - less hazardous - material for the paper basket. Suggestions are welcome!
